5 Best WordPress Mobile Plugins Worth Using

Have you ever wondered which is the best WordPress mobile plugin to make your website responsive?

Most WordPress themes nowadays already come with a responsive option build in so you can easily transform your blog into a responsive one. But what if you don’t like the design? Or maybe you want to customize it a little?

Here’s the deal:

As of 21 April 2015 Google started using mobile friendliness as a ranking factor. Although this update only applies to mobile traffic it still is a big deal and a strong argument to make your site responsive.

But wait there’s more, responsive websites not only rank higher in search results but they are also user friendly. So it’s a win-win situation.

How To Make Your Site Mobile Friendly

When it comes to making your blog mobile friendly you basically have two options: either using a responsive WordPress theme or a mobile one. There’s a distinction to be made between the two. In plain terms responsive means that your website will dynamically adjust to display in smart-phones and tablets wheres the second is designed specifically for smart-phones and tablets.

So it’s up to you which one you decide to use in the end.

If you are reading this post chances are you are looking to optimize your blog using one of the best WordPress mobile plugins.

But which one to pick?

Testing and Choosing The Best WordPress Mobile Plugin

To compile the ultimate list of the best WordPress mobile plugins I decided to research a bunch of plugins and then select those that match my criteria:

I am particularly looking for:

  • easy to setup
  • beautiful/decent design
  • customization options

In order to test the plugins, first I have to disable the responsive feature on my blog.

After a few hours of research I’ve compiled a list of 5 best WordPress mobile plugins.

You can also test them on your website and choose the one that best fits your needs.

To see how the website will look on a smart-phone you can use MobileTest.me an awesome service which shows how your website displays on various phones and tablets.

1.) Any Mobile Theme Switcher (free)

The first on my list is one of the best WordPress mobile theme plugins mainly because it’s so easy to setup.

Basically what it does is it lets you display a specific theme for smartphones and tablets.

But that’s not all, you can also choose different ones depending on visitor’s device.

So you basically have the option to display a theme for say Iphone users and another one for Android visitors.

This plugin also supports Windows mobile devices as well as Opera mini.

The cool thing is that you can use pretty much any theme that is also responsive: for example Twenty Twelve, Twenty Fifteen. Or you can just as easily do a search on WordPress.org to choose and test different themes and designs.

2.) WPtouch Mobile Plugin (free and pro)

WPtouch is another plugin to make your website mobile friendly.

The free version is packed full with cool features but has a few limitations such as the ability to choose only one design.

What I like the most about this plugin is the beautiful theme design and the amount of customization available.

Also there is a nice option to display the mobile theme only for logged in administrators.

That’s a great option to test different settings before going live.

Although it has a few limitations it still has a number of great options such as branding for example.

It’s also highly customizable with options to choose custom colors, upload your website’s logo and much more.

WPtouch Pro includes a few more good looking designs with awesome features and it’s definitively worth a look.

3.) WordPress Mobile Pack (free and premium)

When it comes to design, this plugin is definitively a winner.

This one just looks and feels amazing.

The free version has just one design to choose from but you have the ability to customize it any way you like.

You can change colors, menus and so on.

It also comes with an option to preview the site for logged in administrators.

Although the free version is quite good there’s also WordPress Mobile Pack PRO with more features and options.

Some of the main features of the pro version include:

  • 3 stunning themes
  • social buttons
  • monetization options
  • and much more

4.) Jetpack by WordPress.com (free)

The Jetpack plugin is amazing as it is, full of features and options, but there’s one more great feature of this plugin that puts it in my list of the best WordPress mobile plugins.

Care to guess which one?

The mobile theme option of course.

There are no bells and whistles when it comes to the design, it’s simple, clean and it just works.

All you have to do is simply install Jetpack, look for the mobile theme option and click activate.

That’s it.

Take out your smart-phone and see how it looks like.

What more can you want?

5.) WP Smart Mobile Theme Plugin (free)

This one is a nice plugin with clean simple designs and very easy to set up.

You can easily customize it and even upload a custom logo.

Even better you can easily customize the theme to match your desktop design.

You can change the site font, background colors and even the header color.

The best thing about this one is that it comes not with one but with three completely different designs

That’s quite amazing considering that it’s free.

Another great feature is the ability to use advertising and analytics on the responsive version of your website.

It has Google AdSense integration or you can add any other custom advertising option you want.

If you want to make your website responsive the easiest possible way is to use the Jetpack by WordPress.com plugin. It’s an awesome plugin really easy to set up and it also looks quite nice.

If you want to go a step further, customize the design and use a beautiful theme I recommend checking out WPTouch Pro.
